Ridho Al-Hamdi is the director for International Program of Government Affairs and Administration (IGOV), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. He earned a doctoral degree in political science at TU Dortmund University, Germany, 2014-2017, fully funded by Indonesia’s Government Kemenristekdikti, with the dissertation title Indonesian Political Ideology: Political Parties and Local Governance in Yogyakarta Municipality 1998-2015. In the meantime, his bachelor and master degrees were completed in UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Gadjah Mada University respectively. Bahasa Indonesia is indeed his mother tongue. Beside mastering English, he can speak Arabic (intermediate), Javanese (reasonable), German (basic) and other Indonesian local languages.
Since 2017, he is conducting as managing editor for Jurnal Studi Pemerintahan (http://journal.umy.ac.id/index.php/jsp, international journal) and currently is a chairperson for 3rd Journal of Government and Politics International Conference (3 rd JGP-IC) held on 30 October 2018. Supervising undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students’ thesis is part of his activities. As a commitment in academic environment, he always engages as whether speaker or keynote speaker in various international conferences and visits professor in some universities around the world such as Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain and Asia University, Taichung, Taiwan. He wrote some books and articles provided in national and international journals. His research interests are related to democracy, political parties, election as well as Islam and politics.
