Lecturer Series Class, Discussing about Disaster and Digitalization Era in Indonesia and Malaysia

YOGYAKARTA (13/03). The people of Indonesia and Malaysia are very familiar with disasters. Geologically, Indonesia is in the ring of fire. The volcanic trail stretches from Sumatra, Java, to Sulawesi. While floods, landslides, and earthquakes frequently hit Malaysia. Knowledge about potential risks is necessary. Outreach, education, and preparedness are the keys to reducing disaster risk in the future. Thus, IGOV is holding a Lecturer Series class with the Disaster and Digitalization Era theme.

The first class presented Humanity and Disaster Response by Rahmawati Husein, MCP, Ph.D. In contrast, the second gave the theme Social Media and Digital Era in Indonesia & Malaysia by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Nurmandi. This class was attended by 24 participants consisting of 11 UUM School of Government students and 13 students from IGOV.

This activity started at 09.00, starting with Mrs. Ama’s session discussing disaster management regulations in Indonesia. Then proceed with the Campus Tour with the IGSC (International Government Study Committee), which consists of five members. they took UUM students around the UMY campus from the Postgraduate Building, then passed the Dasron Hamid Research Center to the UMY BOGA canteen. Towards noon they were given a luncheon at the Postgraduate Building.

The second session starts at 13.30 WIB. Aulia Nur Kasiwi, M.IP as a substitute lecturer for Prof. Dr. Ahmad Nurmandi, bring this session. Here Aulia brings the theme of “The Growing of Social Media Use in ASEAN’s Government.”. it explains how social media plays an essential role in the field of government and the importance of the digitalization era in the scope of government. A discussion and questions and answers accompany each session.

The next session was a Group Presentation on the Social and Economic Development Challenge: A comparison between Indonesia and Malaysia. This activity started at 14.00 and consisted of four groups with titles, including Leadership of Joko Widodo and Najib Razak, Comparison between Malaysia and Indonesia Industry and Education, Digitalization of e-government in Indonesian and Malay, and Social and Economic Development Challenges. The activity finished in the evening at 17.3

Visiting Borobudur, an introduction to Indonesian culture to UUM students.

MAGELANG (12/03). Borobudur is one of the wonders of the world located in Indonesia, precisely in Borobudur Village, Magelang, Central Java. Borobudur Temple is a Buddhist temple designated by UNESCO as a world heritage site due to the very unique architecture of the temple building by combining stupas, temples and mountains in its buildings. Therefore, IGOV invited Dr. Syahrir and 12 UUM School of Government students to visit one of these historical places. Accompanied by two IGOV staff, Adibah Dhivani Gusmi, S.IP and Foltamajuna, S.I.Kom. This activity is intended to introduce Indonesian culture to UUM students as part of the Short Mobility Program.

This activity begins with breakfast at the Professor’s Guest House (PGH) at 07.00 WIB. Departure starts at 07.45 and arrives at Borobudur at 08.45 by using an ELF vehicle. The activity went well and was fun even though the weather was very hot. Accompanied by the Tour Guide, Ms. Lina, they received a detailed explanation of the history of Borobudur, the reasons for the construction of Borobudur, and the function of Borobudur as a house of worship according to Buddhists. They carefully listened to explanations and asked a lot of questions, especially Fong and Kartika, as they are Hinduism and Buddhism. They also asked about the differences in the worship of Buddhists in Indonesia and other countries. They don’t forget to take selfies and vlogging with their cell phones to capture interesting moments while at Borobudur.

At the end of this visit, they received a gift, sandals made of dried woven bamboo, from the Managing Director of the Borobudur Tourism Area Management Authority. On the return, Syahrir, a UUM student, bought all the merchandise offered to him as he was very interested in all things related to Borobudur such as batik, Borobudur replicas and small bags with Borobudur pictures. They also like Indonesian food because Indonesian food is spicier. This activity was completed by having lunch at Kampung Ulam Resto, Ngrajek, Magelang.

The Preparation Meeting of the IGOV UMY x School of Government UUM Short Mobility Program

YOGYAKARTA (3/2). The discussion meeting on the preparation of the Short Mobility Program was carried out well organized. The Short Mobility Program is a program intended for final-year students of the international class Government Science program. IGOV UMY implements this program to facilitate final-year students who still need to complete a student exchange program.

The student exchange program is the primary requirement for all international class Government Science programs at UMY and a mandatory requirement for submitting a thesis program. This program is convenient for final-year students as the duration is shorter, two weeks, than student exchange programs, usually held for one semester. This program will offer three credits and a certificate equivalent to the student exchange program.

This meeting was held on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, in the 2nd room of Cafe 1912. Therefore, IGOV UMY initiated a short mobility preparation meeting. This meeting was attended by four representatives from work units, including IGOV UMY, Government Science (IP), Jusuf Kalla School Government (JKSG), and Research and Innovation Institute (LRI). The results of this meeting decide on the events to be held, the time and place for the event, and several lecturers who will provide material related to this program. So, the event will be held from Friday, March 10th, 2023, to Wednesday, March 15th, 2023

IGOV Open Registration for the Content Creator Team

Yogyakarta (24/2) IGOV UMY is known for its good management of social media at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). Most recently, IGOV UMY received the most active social media title from Biro Humas dan Protokol (BHP). This title was obtained after UMY held the most active social media competition for all study programs at UMY. Therefore, this good thing must be maintained.

To maintain social media standards, IGOV UMY opens internship opportunities for final-year students of all majors at UMY. The internship position available is that of a content creator. Apprentice registration is open from February 16 to February 23, with an interview on February 24. Participants in the forthcoming recruitment this time were 7 students who came from various study programs such as English Language Education, Communication Studies, Law, and IGOV UMY itself.

There are three stages to the test that participants must pass: administration selection, namely Administration Selection, Interview, and content creation test. After participating in all the series, Nurul Izzah Aulia from English Education was selected to join the internship at IGOV UMY. The selection of Nurul was made because Nurul was considered capable of completing all the selection stages properly and correctly. Enlivening Milad UMY, IGOV Staff took part in the Badminton Competition

Yogyakarta (24/2) Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta has just celebrated its 42nd anniversary. UMY is celebrating its 42nd birthday with a series of events, including the unveiling of the logo, the UMY Milad Contest, and the UMY Anniversary Reflection Night. The big theme of this year’s 42nd anniversary of UMY is ‘Keep Moving On’. This big theme means that the campus must continue to move in any situation the pandemic is a test for all institutions and individuals.

One of the IGOV UMY staff, Foltama Juna, took part in the men’s doubles badminton competition between UMY employees. There were 48 people participating in this badminton competition which were divided into 6 groups with a pair draw system. Folta and his partner, Yanto, are cleaning staff at the Faculty of Economics. Played three times in the group phase Folta and Yanto won two matches and lost one. The result put Folta and Yanto in second place in Group D.

In the last eight, Folta and Yanto met Afiq and Sudaraja, but unfortunately, Folta had to admit defeat with a score of 16-30.

In giving insightful experience, IGOV UMY invites professional from the DPR-RI.

Yogyakarta (5/1) Praktisi Mengajar is a program established by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia so that graduates are better prepared to work. This program encourages collaboration between expert and lecturers to create in-depth and meaningful exchange of knowledge and expertise between academicians and professionals. This collaboration is carried out in courses delivered in classrooms both offline and online.

The Praktisi Mengajar implemented by IGOV UMY is a collaboration carried out by Sakir Ridho Wijaya, S.IP., M.IP as the director of IGOV with Farida Azzahra, S.H., M.H. as the expert staff in Law for the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia RI. She is in charge of Indonesian Language Class (Scientific Writing Techniques) for IGOV students in 2022.

On January 5, 2022, the class was held offline at the Laboratory of Government Science Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. At class, each student consults regarding the substance and technique of writing scientific articles including background, literature review, and conclusions. The results of the consultation used for improving articles, which will later be submitted to the national journal portal or compiled it into a book. (FLT)

Yogyakarta (28/12) – The International Program of Government Affairs and Administration Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY), again held a public lecture entitled “Pengadaan Barang dan Jasa Pemerintahan”

The activity was held on Wednesday (28/12) and took place in the Main Meeting Room, Ar. Fachrudin A Building , UMY. The activity which was held offline invited 2 speakers, Kepala Lembaga Kebijakan Pengadaan Barang/Jasa Pemerintah (LKPP) Dr. H. Hendrar Prihadi, S.E., M.M, and Kepala Pusat Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Pengadaan Barang dan Jasa Ir. Hardi Afriansyah, M.Si.

Hendrar, who is also the former mayor of Semarang for the period 17 February 2016 – 10 October 2022, presented material on “Transformasi Pengadaan Untuk Kesejahteraan”. he explained that Indonesia’s state procurement focuses on the direction of the president of the Republic of Indonesia which uses goods from within the country, increases the portion of MSMEs and ensures transparency and efficiency in the use of government spending.

Furthermore, the material delivery activity was delivered by Hardi regarding “Tata Kelola Pengadaan B/J Sesuai Dengan Peraturan Presiden Nomor 16 Tahun 2018 Dan Peraturan Presiden Nomor 12 Tahun 2021”

Yogyakarta (22/12) – Collaboration across government agencies and industry plays an important role in improving the quality of education graduates in the digital era. Therefore, the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY) has just conducted a visit to Narasi.TV which was held on Wednesday (21/12) at Intiland Tower, Jakarta.

This activity is an opportunity to open cross-agency collaboration in improving the quality of graduates which is needed in the current era, the era of collaboration.

Through this, Narasi. Tv represented by Dahlia Citra Buana (Chief of Ecosystem), Ryggie Phillip (Strategic Partnership), Yuanita Theodora (UP of Business), Iqbal Tawakal (Lead Partnership), and, Ghinar Pranogo (Head sales) welcomed both the intent and purpose to improve collaborative development of student competencies.

Some of the discussions on this visit included opportunities for collaboration in developing student competence, discussion of IGOV UMY’s social media as media branding, and collaboration in creating events. Furthermore, IGOV UMY and Narasi will provide Custom Classes for IGOV UMY students in developing competencies in how to manage social media, design social media & website displays, content creation, events, etc.

IGOV UMY Has Just Held a Selection for the New International Students

Yogyakarta (17/12) – the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY) has just held a new student selection activity for international students who register at IGOV UMY. The activity was held on Wednesday (14/12) via Zoom Meetings. The selection was made by the Head of the UMY Government Science Study Program, Dr. Tunjung Sulaksono, M.Sc., and Adibah Dhivani Gusmi, S.IP., as International Mobility and Cooperation IGOV UMY.

IGOV UMY is one of the international programs at UMY which routinely gets applicants from international students to continue their studies. This is also in line with the mission of IGOV UMY in providing adequate environmental facilities to help students improve their English skills and courage. In addition, the presence of international students can broaden insight and knowledge.

On this occasion, IGOV UMY selected a student from Gambia, Africa. Previously, IGOV UMY also had an international student from Gambia, Modou Lamin Juwara, a student of IGOV UMY Batch 2020. The Visit from SMAN 2 Pringsewu Was Interactive and Exciting!

Yogyakarta (13/12) – For the umpteenth time, the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY) was allowed to take part in promotional activity for school visits held by the UMY Admissions Bureau. On this occasion, IGOV UMY was allowed to welcome guests from SMAN 2 Pringsewu, Lampung who was conducting a Goes to Campus event to the best campuses in Indonesia.

Before they visited UMY they visited tourist attractions around the D.I.Y. because it is very unfortunate if visiting Yogyakarta does not enjoy the existing tourist attractions. This was disclosed by one student who declined to be named.

“Before we visited UMY, we visited tourist attractions around D.I.Y such as Borobudur Temple, Yogyakarta Palace, Malioboro, etc,” he said

Next, they visited UMY to get to know more about UMY and IGOV UMY which was held on Saturday (10/12) and took place in the Ar. Fachrudin A Building, 5th floor, UMY. This activity was brought by Imam Suprabowo, S.Sos.I., M.Pd.I to introduce the ins and outs of UMY and Fadhila Septiyaning, one of the batch 2020 IGOV UMY students to introduce the advantages of IGOV UMY.

According to Fadhila, the visit was conducive and interactive considering a large number of participants. The activity which was attended by 188 participants showed their enthusiasm by asking questions about IGOV UMY and UMY.

“Wow, I think the visit was very conducive and interactive, judging from their enthusiasm in asking about the advantages of IGOV UMY and they seemed interested in the Student Exchange Program which they asked a lot about,” Fadhila said. (ARP)
