IGOV UMY interviewed two candidates of IGOV UMY for Student Requirements

YOGYAKARTA (9/3) – International Program of Government Affairs and Administration, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV) UMY always keep developing the international environment and facilitating students to expand their intellectual capacity, core competency, skills about essential issues on a global scale, especially in a governmental and political case. Thus, IGOV UMY continuously allows international students to grow and learn together to create a global environment. 

IGOV UMY interviewed two foreign candidates as the registration requirements of IGOV UMY student college. They are Chernet Masresha Asmamaw from Ethiopia and Osid Ahmed Abdullah Hageb came from Yemen. Previously, the candidates consisted of three who registered for IGOV at first, but one candidate left the position due to his case. The agenda was held at the Zoom Meeting because the participants could not attend the offline meeting. The selection was led by the Head of the UMY Government Science Study Program, Dr. Tunjung Sulaksono, M.Sc., and Adibah Dhivani Gusmi, S.IP., as International Mobility and Cooperation IGOV UMY. 

With this program, the Head of the UMY Government Science Study Program said it would assess the candidates to get the best score. Furthermore, the elected students properly get the fully funded scholarship from UMY as their facilitation as an international student.

One participant said he has lived in Bogor, West Java, for six years. He started living in Indonesia from about 2015 to 2017, and he took a one-year gap to rest as the conflict in his country raised his trauma, then he got into senior high school. He lives alone in a refugee because his parents still live in Yemen. Furthermore, he decided to take IGOV as his following study in Indonesia. The agenda is run systematically from start to end, and the problem comes only from the connection at the beginning of the meeting.

UMY visits SMA N 8 Yogyakarta for Promotion on The 2nd Campus Tour

YOGYAKARTA (28/2) – For the UMY’s 42nd anniversary, UMY Campus Tour activities will be held at various high schools in Indonesia. This activity was accommodated by the UMY Admissions, which involved their students in this program to introduce the UMY campus to candidate students in various regions in Indonesia. The events started with presentations to the school’s pupils about educational studies at UMY, presentations programs at the UMY campus, and inviting candidates of the students to tour the campus area to discuss UMY more.

One of the IGOV students, Gumesha Rahma Jati, also had the opportunity to be directly involved in the UMY Campus Tour held at SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta on Tuesday, 28 February 2023. The event went lively with enthusiasm from students who paid attention to Gumesha’s presentation. Meanwhile, Gumesha explained the international class Government Science program, student exchange program, and scholarships students could apply for. Gumesha shared her experience as an outstanding student in participating in the 4th Bandung Lautan Api International Silat Championship.

This is the second year that UMY has held Campus Tours to various regions in Indonesia. This activity will attract and motivate students to continue their education, especially at UMY, which facilitates students to gain more exciting experiences through the various programs offered. It is an international class program.

Enlivening Milad UMY, IGOV Staff took part in the Badminton Competition

Yogyakarta (24/2) Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta has just celebrated its 42nd anniversary. UMY is celebrating its 42nd birthday with a series of events, including the unveiling of the logo, the UMY Milad Contest, and the UMY Anniversary Reflection Night. The big theme of this year’s 42nd anniversary of UMY is ‘Keep Moving On’. This big theme means that the campus must continue to move in any situation the pandemic is a test for all institutions and individuals.

One of the IGOV UMY staff, Foltama Juna, took part in the men’s doubles badminton competition between UMY employees. There were 48 people participating in this badminton competition which were divided into 6 groups with a pair draw system. Folta and his partner, Yanto, are cleaning staff at the Faculty of Economics. Played three times in the group phase Folta and Yanto won two matches and lost one. The result put Folta and Yanto in second place in Group D.

In the last eight, Folta and Yanto met Afiq and Sudaraja, but unfortunately, Folta had to admit defeat with a score of 16-30.

Magang Studi Independen Bersertifikat Kemendikbud Program was passed by two IGOV UMY students. 

Yogyakarta (23/2) Magang Studi Independen Bersertifikat (MSIB) is a program created by the Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi (Ditjen Dikti) Kemendikbudristek with the aim of providing space for students to gain experience in knowing the professional world and creating a professional workforce. Students who wish to graduate are provided with a place to enter the world of their careers, where soft skill development programs are given by the career center. This program can also replace as many as 20 credits of students who take part in this program.

Awang Rajaprakoso Purnomo and Luthfiyyah Putri Rahmaningrum are IGOV UMY students in the class of 2020 who have successfully passed the MSIB program. Awang and Lutfi managed to pass PT. Erajaya Swasembada as Social Media Intern and Solo Technopark as Strategic Event and Campaign Officer. Awang said that this was a golden opportunity because he could carry out an internship with other participants from various well-known campuses in Indonesia. “It’s really exciting, bro, because the participants are from different campuses and can open new perspectives,” said Awang.

Boosting School Promotion, IGOV UMY held Roadshows to Various Regions

Yogyakarta (3/2) – Promotion to school is something that all universities, both public and private, must do. This is done in order to further enhance the brand awareness of a study program or university. In addition, one of the efforts to get quality prospective students is to promote the introduction of the study program to both students and teachers.

IGOV UMY conducted a roadshow activity with the Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University Admission Bureau. There are several cities in Indonesia that are the destinations for the roadshow conducted by IGOV UMY, such as Tangerang, Tulungagung, Klaten, and Sleman. IGOV was represented by Aditya Fatmandadika Qurnain, IGOV Batch 2020. This activity took place through several different schemes in each city, such as direct presentations to classes, campus exhibitions with various other universities, and many more.

From the beginning of January to the end of February, this activity was carried out in Tulungagung on January 15-17, 2023; Klaten on January 26-28, 2023; Tangerang on January 29-31, 2023; Pakem, Sleman, and Solo on February 4-8, 2023; and Solo on January 20, 2023.This activity takes place in various schools, both public and private.

 

Aditya admitted that he was very happy because he was given the opportunity to represent IGOV UMY, Apart from his lively speech, students at the school were also very enthusiastic about asking questions about IGOV UMY. “It’s really fun to be IGOV’s representative for promotions to schools. Apart from being able to meet new people, I can also explain to students how the learning culture is at IGOV. The majority of their children ask about where student exchanges can go,” said Aditya (FLT)
