Visiting Professor: Tax and Tourism Sector by Dr. Chuanchen

Yogyakarta – (5/12). IGOV Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held a visiting professor program again with the theme “Tax and Tourism Sector”. The visiting professor this time was filled by Dr. Chuanchen from China and Salsa as a moderator started at 11.10 am and finished at 12.30 pm by zoom meeting.
China in 2016 moving into tourism era. Tourism era is era of the act and process of spending time away from home in pursuit of recreation, relaxation, and pleasure, while making use of the commercial provision of services.
As such, tourism is a product of modern social arrangements, beginning in western Europe in the 17th century, although it has antecedents in Classical antiquity.

Salsa, one of participant the virtual tour scheme, ask to Dr. Chuanchen “How the tax is taken from that kind of tour?”
Then Dr. Chuanchen answered, “That no tax is included in virtual tour. In China, the tourism is handled virtually by the apps managed by the ministry of tourism. The govt of China free all taxes for all tourism activities (who works in tourism things) they also help many SMI to survive,” he said.
The other participant, Amanda, asked about the possibility of tax deduction. Dr. Chuanchen answered “The tax payment is compulsory for households who their income is more than 5000 yuan. But if you have only 1 child/ your child is going to univ (you paid by yourself)/ you have parent to take care, the govt will deduct the tax for you. Then in Thai, if you are working at the uni, the uni will help you to deduct the tax.” (DA)
