IP UMY’s MATAF Held Critical Discussions with Political Observers

Yogyakarta (15/9) – New students are both the next generation of the country and the next generation of reformers who will help higher education meet its academic goals in the future. A new student at a college or university is like a blank sheet of paper that needs to be filled out correctly. So, during the 2022 UMY Government Science Ta’aruf (Mataf) Period, IP UMY held a critical discussion with the theme “Menumbuhkan Kesadaran Intelektual Dalam Keberagaman Sosial Guna Mencipatakan Aktualisasi Diri Mahasiswa Pembaharu.”

The event started with a speech by Dr. Tunjung Sulaksono, S.IP., M.Sc., Head of the UMY Government Science Study Program. Then, well-known people like Constitutional Law Expert and Political Observer Dr. Refly Harun, S.H., M.H., LL. M. and Activist and Academician Syahrul Ramadhan Yusuf, S.SoS., M. Ag., M. Pd. led a discussion session. As a starting point, Muhammad Eko Atmojo, S.IP., M.IP, Secretary of the UMY Government Science Study Program, and David Efendi, S.IP., MA, UMY Government Science Lecturer, moderated this discussion. This talk happened in person on September 14 at the E.6 Amphitheater on the 5th floor of the KH Building. Ibrahim UMY.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first face-to-face mataf. This conversation added to the meaning of the orientation period for the start of the Government Science Study Program by bringing up interesting topics and getting new students to think critically. We hope that this discussion will inspire new students and make them more intellectually aware so that they can be at their best when it comes to self-actualization as they go through school. (ARP)
