Visiting Professor : Public Service Motivation

Yogyakarta (25/5) – The Visiting Professor of the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Dr. Abderrahmane Benlahcanene from Universiti Utara Malaysia carried out a class that discussed Public Service Motivation. Public Service Motivation (PSM) is an attribute of government and non-governmental organization (NGO) employment that explains why individuals have a desire to serve the public and link their actions with the overall public interest. Dr. Abderrahmane explained that students are the future actors in public sectors, youth must have a vision, mission, and a permanent stance as public actors who protect the community, not as an external factor that makes society slump.
In addition, the existence of PSM can have a good influence on other communities “WE NEED PEOPLE WHO CAN SET ANY GOOD THINGS IN PUBLIC SECTORS to against corruption, to settle society’s welfare
The motives also influence by politics, culture, languages, regions and also religions several countries have their own problems/issues in managing public deeds,” said Dr. Abderrahmane. (ARP)
