Class of 2022 Students Giving Speech as Final Project

The students of the IGov class of 2022 recently undertook a unique final project for their English course. As part of their assignment, they were required to deliver speeches in front of their classmates. Each student took turns presenting their chosen theme, selecting material from TED videos to support their speech. Some students opted to enhance their presentations with PowerPoint slides, while others chose to deliver their speeches without visual aids. Miss Fitra, their English course lecturer, decided to introduce this alternative assignment format to foster creativity and engagement among her students. According to Nurizza, an IGov student from the class of 2022, the activity proved to be incredibly exciting, and all the students were enthusiastic participants.

The speeches were delivered in a total of eight classes, allowing each student to showcase their presentation skills and express their individual interests. This project provided a valuable opportunity for the students to refine their public speaking abilities and further develop their English language proficiency. By selecting TED videos as their reference material, the students were able to explore a wide range of topics and present diverse perspectives to their peers. The use of PowerPoint presentations added an interactive element to the speeches, enhancing the overall learning experience. Miss Fitra’s decision to deviate from traditional written assignments demonstrated her commitment to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
