Yogyakarta, March 15th, 2018, IGOV Student Community (IGSC) held a scholarship seminar for undergraduate students who have willing to pursue their master and doctoral degree overseas. This is the second years of IGSC held this kind of event since the previous one was in 2017. Different with BBB last year, in this chance IGSC had a chance to facilitate with the expert speakers such as a reviewer of LPDP (Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan) scholarship and other awardees of various scholarships funding. There is an Associate. Prof. Dr. Eko Priyo Purnomo as an awardee of Ford Foundation (2014), Dr. phil. Ridho Al-Hamdi, M.A an awardee of Kemenristekdikti (2017), and Dr. Martino Sardi, M.A a reviewer of LPDP Scholarship.
There are several important things that had been delivered by the speakers in how to get the scholarship and survive living in other countries. The first one we have to prepare is ourselves, trying to open our mind that living far away from home will give us more experiences, develop our emotional intelligence as well as expose our linguistic and academic abilities. Second, prepare all the requirements needed such as TOEFL/IELTS, academic transcript, recommendation letter and other requirements. After all of it accomplished is the time time to submit it and let the God do the rest.
In terms of how to survive in abroad, the speakers explained their own experiences during their study with a scholarship. “We have very different and interest stories during our study abroad. From the sweetest until the hardest, from laughing and tearing, but one thing needs to believe, Allah is always with us. He would never let his man down, there are a thousand ways to survive; working as the lecture assistance or even waiter. As long as we work hard, study hard, all the efforts will be paid off.” said one of the Speaker who is a Director of IGOV, Dr.phil. Ridho Al-Hamdi.
