IGOV Extended the Summer School Registration Deadline and Held it Online

Starting Tuesday, July 4, 2023, igov changed the scheme for organizing the International Government and Politics Summer School (IGoPSS) to an online strategy. This extension was implemented to expand opportunities for anyone wanting to participate in online summer school activities from various countries. This activity will be held from July 27 to August 2, 2023. The closing of this event will be on July 15, 2023. It is also free for payment, but the free merchandise will be sent to every participant. Due to this summer school being held online, each participant gets only three transferable credits to the home campus. IGoPSS has three primary programs. Each has one credit that can be transferred to your college credit. The names of the programs are Governance and Development Issues, Public Policy and Governance, and Politics in Governance Issues. m, each class gets one credit. From the first day to the fifth day, the activity is filled with material from parties who are very competent and compatible in their fields. On the sixth day, there will be a focus group discussion, and on the last day, an awareness night will be held for all activity participants. In this activity, participants will receive a certificate of participation to acknowledge their involvement in this program and establish meaningful connections. International Program of Government Science (IGOV) invites all young leaders worldwide to become part of our extraordinary program, Students Exchange in Universitas Muhammdiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). As the first international program for Governmental Studies in Indonesia, IGOV examines politics, government, and public administration through the lens of politics. Our program highly supports crafting a better future by nurturing potential young leaders.

The program will be held in four months. The Letter of Acceptance will be sent two weeks after receiving VISA Recommendation. For Research Exchange Program, the applicant will be invited to conduct an interview session after the registration process to match the research interest. The Student Number and accommodation will be shown for foreign students after completing the administration process.

IGOV Invites Mahidol University to Join IGoPSS Summer School

June 30, 2023 (Friday) – In an effort to foster international cooperation and knowledge exchange, the International Governance and Public Administration (IGOV) organization has to promote the International Governance and Public Policy Summer School (IGoPSS) with Mahidol University

During today’s agenda from 10:00 to 11:00, notable figures, including Aung Win Tun, Assistant Dean for International Relations at Mahidol University’s Faculty of Graduate Studies, Idham Badruzaman, Ph.D., Head of the International Relations Office, Dr. Farindira Vesti Rahmasari, MSc, Director of Administrative Cooperation, and Aulia Nur Kasiwi, Ph.D., Representative of IGOV, engaged in a productive discussion and Q&A session. The event highlighted the importance of the ongoing summer school, which focuses on the intersection of politics, sustainable development, and economic concerns.

IGoPSS Summer School offers a comprehensive program that includes a final assessment and gives students the unique opportunity to present their research papers at an international conference. This platform enables students to share their ideas and outcomes from the summer school program and potentially publish their articles in reputable journals such as “National Activities in Sinta 2” or “Level 2 Up.”

In an effort to expand participation, IGOV is extending an invitation to become an online partner for the summer school. Interested institutions can enroll a minimum of ten students, thereby benefiting from the scholarship program that covers the participation fee and conference registration. The summer school has attracted students from the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand, enhancing the diverse and enriching learning environment.

The Summer School will officially conclude on July 5, 2023, leaving students with a wealth of knowledge and valuable experiences in politics and sustainable development. Aulia Nur Kasiwi, Ph.D., hopes the program will provide course materials and yield tangible outcomes and outputs for all participants.

Release and Delivery of UUM Students to YIA Airport

Yogyakarta (15/3) – The Short Mobility Program, conducted by the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY) in collaboration with the School of Government of Universiti Utara Malaysia (SOG UUM), has officially ended. This program lasted seven days at UUM and five days at UMY. The program initiated by the two universities has been completed smoothly and has had many positive impacts for the two universities.

After five days in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, the UUM SOG had to return to Malaysia to continue their studies. IGOV UMY wanted to ensure SOG UUM returned safely and comfortably; therefore, we delivered them to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) using three cars for students and lecturers and one car for goods. UUM students and lecturers will depart from YIA to Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 17.00 WIB. IGOV escorted Dr. Syahrir and 12 UUM School of Government students, accompanied by two IGOV staff, Adibah Dhivani Gusmi, S.IP., and Nurul Izzah Aulia.

Before returning to Malaysia, one of the SOG UUM students, Lim Yean Fong, bought a bale of Indonesian brewed tea with the Tjatoet brand. She really liked Indonesian brewed tea, so she purchased a bale. When interviewed by the IGOV Team before leaving, Lim said that “Indonesian tea is very different from tea in Malaysia; it is tastier and thicker. In Malaysia, we usually use tea bags if we want to drink tea, but it doesn’t taste as good as Indonesian brewed tea,” said Lim (FLT).

Visit Borobudur, Thai Students are very Enthusiastic

Magelang (27/12) – Various types of tourism are offered in Jogja, ranging from cultural, historical, and nature tourism to spiritual tourism. Because Jogja is known as a favorite tourist spot, of course it offers a variety of excellent tourist attractions that you must visit when visiting this student city. One of the tourist objects is the Borobudur Temple.

This Borobudur Temple is actually not located right in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, but in Magelang, Central Java, or about 40 KM from downtown Jogja. However, this largest Buddhist temple in the world is one of the tourist attractions that you must visit if you are on vacation in Jogja. Borobudur Temple is famous to various parts of the world, this temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the world.

Amnat Arthan (Neck) and Chakorn Uppala (Sa) are students of Maejo University Thailand who had the opportunity to carry out an Inbound Exchange to Ilmu Pemerintahan (IGOV UMY). They were accompanied by Efriza Nur Hadi IGOV Batch 2022 to the Borobudur Temple. This program is called the Cultural Exchnge. The Cultural Exchange was held with the aim of providing knowledge related to culture and culture in Indonesia, especially in the city of Yogyakarta. Neck and Sa said they were very happy to be able to visit Borobudur Temple, especially since they are both Buddhists.

Attempting to Play Jeep: Chakorn and Neck’s First Experience

Yogyakarta (27/12) – Yogyakarta has many tourist destinations such as history, culture, natural tourism, and culinary tourism, which are scattered in many places in Yogyakarta. In the south of Yogyakarta, we know there are several beaches that must be visited when we are in Yogyakarta, such as Indrayanti Beach, Drini Beach, Kesirat Beach, and many more. A volcano to the north of Yogyakarta can be drawn in a straight line with the Yogyakarta Monument and Parangtritis Beach.

Amnat Arthan (Neck) and Chakorn Uppala (Sa) are students of Maejo University Thailand who had the opportunity to carry out an Inbound Exchange to Ilmu Pemerintahan Kelas Internasional (IGOV UMY). Exchange implementation at IGOV UMY is not only carried out in class with lecturers, but at IGOV UMY there is a Cultural Exchange program. This Cultural Exchange is a program created by IGOV UMY to introduce Indonesian culture, especially Yogyakarta, to Inbound Exchange students.

This event was very exciting and fun, Neck and Sa admitted that this was their first experience traveling around nature using a Jeep. Neck said he was very scared at first because the Jeep did not have a lid on the top of the car, but at the end of the session Neck realized that this was being used to play in the water at the end of the session.
“This is very exciting bro, but at first I was afraid to fall because there was no cover on the jeep. But at the end of the session I just found out about its function,” said Neck

Accompanied by Reyhan Dwi Priyandi and Jaya Suparman IGOV Class of 2018 as buddies, they visited several places. At breakfast they eat at Kopi Klotok which is in Pakem, Sleman, DIY. Using the Jeep they visited the Museum Sisa Hartaku, Kaliadem Bunker and finally playing water in the Merapi River. (FLT)

SOG UUM Invites IGOV UMY to Be Panelists in Intellectual Discourse

Malaysia (12/1) – The Intellectual Discourse SOG Inbound Mobility Program was held by the School of Government, Universiti Utara Malaysia (SOG UUM).This event was held at UUM’s Cluster 6/25 Lecture Council. This event invited various Panelists from Indonesia and Malaysia. From Indonesia, SOG UUM invited Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin, who is a representative from Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta University (UMY), ASSOC. Prof. Dr. H. Rahyunir Rauf, M.Si and Dr. Fitrisia Munir from Riau Islamic University (UIR). Meanwhile, from Malaysia SOG UUM invited lecturers from SOG UUM, namely Dr. Muslimin Wallang. This event was moderated by Dr. Vally A/P Senasi from SOG UUM.

This event went very well. Students from SOG UUM listened enthusiastically, especially with the material that Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin presented Indonesian Digital Transformation: Between Technology, Governments and Public Services. Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin explained that there are 3 processes in building a digital service system, namely, Analog Government – E-Government – Digital Government. Indonesia is in the process of transitioning to digital government.Of course, Indonesia is already implementing e-government. The basic difference between E-Government and Digital Government lies in the use of technology used by ASN in public services. E-Government focuses on digitizing all services and information so that it can be easily accessed by Indonesian people, while Digital Government can be implemented if there are adequate human resources so that it can be implemented in Indonesia. As a result, in public services, it has been done with a structured system and a clear system.

Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin Said that Indonesia is currently in the process of moving towards Digital Government, this is expected to increase efficiency, convenience, and better accessibility in public services. Apart from that, to realize good government, transparency is needed. Therefore, Digital Government must be implemented in Indonesia

Continue Improving Writing Skills, IGOV UMY Students Participate in International Conference on Education and Technology Activities

Yogyakarta (17/12) – The Students of the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY) have repeatedly improved their competence in writing skills. This time, IGOV UMY students have just collected Abstracts and PowerPoints for The Second International Conference on Education and Technology (ICETE). This was also confirmed by Satria Imam Prasetya, S.IP., as the mentor at the current International Conference.

“It’s true, at this event there were 2 IGOV UMY students who took part in the activity and are in the process of making a full paper which will be submitted on Tuesday (27/12)” said Satria

ICETE is an International Conference organized by STAI MA’HAD ALY AL-HIKAM MALANG INDONESIA with the big theme of The Urgency of Women’s Role in Civilization. The activity also invited several speakers such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zaharah Binti Hussin from the University of Malaya, Malaysia; Dr. Siti Marpuah from Tun Hussein Onn University, Malaysia; Dr. Umi Salamah, M.Pd. I as the Head of the PAI STAI Masters Study Program Ma’had Aly Al-Hikam, Malang; and Dr. Ifa Khoiria Ningrum as Vice Rector 4 Unugiri Bojonegoro, Bojonegoro.

Previously, IGOV UMY students had just participated in the Borobudur International Symposium held by the Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (UNIMA). This is certainly proof that IGOV UMY students continue to learn and develop their abilities which will be useful when they have to compete in the world of work later.

“By participating in this activity, I hope that IGOV UMY students will continue to learn and hone their skills so that they can continue to make achievements and increase their provisions when they have to compete in the world of work,” Satria said. (ARP)

Visiting Professor: Sustainable Development Theories and Concepts: MDGs and SDGs

Yogyakarta (12/12) – The visiting professor this time presented a speaker named Agustiyara, S.IP, MPA who is an alumnus of our study program, the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY). Raising the theme of Sustainable Development Theories and Concepts related to the subject of Environmental Politics with the main topic of discussion regarding the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This activity was held on Saturday (10/12) at 12.00 WIB via Zoom Meetings, attended by IGOV Batch 2020 students.

The visiting professor begins with an explanation of the importance of sustainable development and continued with. The emergence of the sustainable concept is based on the concern that the carrying capacity of the environment is exceeded by human production and consumption, this concept combines nature and ecology adapted to social and economic needs and preferences, also combining preservation and protection with environmental development and growth.

The speaker also explained various indicators that can be used as benchmarks for achieving sustainable development. The material discussed with the visiting professor this time is to deepen and add to students’ knowledge of the material they have received in class and those they have never received. This activity started on time and ran smoothly, at the end of the session it was closed with a question and answer session that trained students’ critical abilities, and several interesting questions emerged from students who attended this activity. Visiting Professor: Local Government Development in a Malaysian Perspective

Yogyakarta (5/12) – At this Visiting Professor session, the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta invited Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halimah Abdul Manaf as the dean of the School of Government, University Utara Malaysia. Visiting Professor is an activity that aims to provide new insights that are closely related to teaching subjects, especially for students of the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration at Muhammadiyah University Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY). In addition, visiting professors also help deepen students’ knowledge of current issues regarding governance in an international sphere that they may not get in class.

This event started at 14.40, and was attended by all IGOV UMY students Batch 2021. On this occasion the presenters discussed the development of local government in Malaysia. Opened with an explanation of how the political system, inter-governmental relations, types of local government, and local authorities in Malaysia. In this discussion, the speaker also said that prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Malaysian government had maximized the use of digital platforms.

After that, it was followed by a discussion of various issues and challenges faced by the Malaysian government. These problems and challenges include, rapid urbanization, citizens have high expectations of the government that considers all countries the same, the ability of local governments to generate their own income, the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and others. This event took place smoothly and the participants looked very enthusiastic, in the end the event was closed with a question and answer session between the presenters and participants. (ARP)
