Four Possibilities Why Your Motivation Letter Rejected

A motivation letter is a requirement to enroll student exchange program in another country. Without it, the destination university wouldn’t know what are your purpose to study there, or what are you going to do while studying there. Because of that, the motivation letter is an important key to joining a student exchange program in another country. Here are four possibilities for why they reject your motivation letter.

1. Not Attractive

Writing a motivation letter needs to be attractive so that the reader is attracted to your purpose of studying there. Because if you write it unattractively, your actual purpose wouldn’t be well conveyed. The motivation letter must contain your reason to study there, what are your purposes, what are your activities during study there, what are you going to do after graduation, etc. If all of them are not conveyed with interesting reasons, the reader(s) wouldn’t be interested in your letter.

2. Nothing Special

Writing a motivation letter needs to be made about our specialty so that be the difference between you and the other enrollment. Every person has their own skills, which is why they have their own advantages. Those advantages of every people make them special. If you write less about your advantages, therefore readers would think yourself less special.

3. Does Not Show Self Value

In writing a motivation letter, as we write a CV, you must show the values that you have. The values written are what can be useful in the future. Write down important things that you think are useful, don’t write down things that are not really important so you don’t beat around the bush.

4. Not Using Correct Language

It means less correct grammar, incorrect punctuation marks, disconnected sentences, and using convoluted words or sentences. These things are very important to pay attention to in terms of writing so that readers can easily understand the contents of your writing. If you don’t pay attention to it, the readers would misunderstand your writing.

Time Management by Efriza, IGOVers Batch 2021

While in college, it’s good to join an activity/organization. This is useful for adding experience, as well as improving social skills. Joining an activity or organization is also carried out by Efriza Nur Hadi, an IGOV UMY student class of 2022. So far, Efriza has participated in three organizations, a conference, and four committees/volunteers.

These organizations include IMM FISIPOL in the SPM Sector, BEM KM UMY Ministry of Action and Propaganda, and UKM Basket 2022. Then the conference that was attended was ICETE MALANG 2nd 2022. The committee/volunteers who attended included: Secretary CM of the People’s School 2023 PC IMM AR FAKHRUDDIN, CM Zero Point Lab 2023 PC IMM AR FAKHRUDDIN Media Division, UCF UMY 2023 Events Division, and MATAF UMY 2023 Events Division.

So how can he participate in all these organizations and activities without disrupting his studies? According to his experience, he saw the urgency. If he has to do assignments or attend lectures where the hours clash with committee gatherings or organizations, he chooses to do the assignments and attend classes. Because his primary goal of studying at UMY was to study until he graduated, not to organize. Participating in organizations and activities is only done to fill spare time and add experience as a provision for the future.
