IGOV Organizes Ifthar Jama’i for IGOV Students and Staff

The month of Ramadan is a month full of blessings and privileges. One special thing about this month is that Muslims must fast for a whole month from sunrise to sunset. During the specified time, Muslims are required not to eat and drink and not to do evil deeds but are required to do more good deeds. The moment of breaking the fast is also used to stay in touch with relatives and friends. Because in friendship, there are blessings and great rewards, especially in this fasting month.
Entering the third week of Ramadan, IGOV holds an Iftar with students still in Yogyakarta. This event was held at the TOP Malioboro Hotel, Jl. HOS Cokroaminoto No. 145, Tegalrejo, Kec. Tegalrejo, City of Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Sixteen students and four IGOV staff attended this event. This activity began with a friendly and light conversation between the students and the director of IGOV. Then continue the prayer together before breaking the fast and welcome to enjoy the iftar meal. After breaking the fast together and praying, Maghrib, students, and staff take a heavy buffet meal. The activity was closed with a group photo at 7.30 p.m.

Ramadan is a noble month where Muslims are encouraged to increase their worship and do good deeds because of the many rewards and forgiveness that Allah SWT has given to their creatures. After a full day of fasting to hold back hunger, thirst, and lust, they can break their fast at sunset. Breaking the fast is also a gathering event because it allows all to gather. Therefore, to strengthen friendship and family ties, IGOV held an iftar event between the IGOV Director and Staff.

This activity was held on Monday, April 4, 2023, at Pelem Golek Restaurant, Jl. Student Army Theater, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The IGOV director and seven IGOV staff attended. All staff gathered at the venue at 5 p.m. The event begins with praying and eating together, then praying together and discussing. In this case, two IGOV staff, Adibah Dhivani Gusmi, S.IP, and Foltamajuna, S.I.Kom, expressed their gratitude and said goodbye to resign after working at IGOV. Sakir Ridho Wijaya, S.IP., M.IP., as the director of IGOV, expressed his gratitude again to Adibah and Folta for their dedication to working and serving at IGOV. He hopes the family relationship among fellow staff remains close and lasts long.

Important Things IGOVers Often Forget

These are trivial things, but we often must remember if we do them immediately. If we forget, we will usually regret it. What do we often forget?

  1. Pray before studying
    So that it is smooth and easy to study, remember to pray before starting to learn, guys!
  2. Absent after class in MyKlass
    After the class finishes, we usually return home immediately and forget that the absence in MyKlass has yet to be assigned.
  3. Forget to click the ‘Submit’ assignment in MyKlass
    Sometimes, when too excited to submit assignments, we collect the task and forget to click ‘Submit.’
  4. Forget to prepare Student Exchange registration.
    The students’ Exchange program has many requirements for the applicant. It is better if these requirements are paid in installments from now on so that all the conditions have been collected at the end of the day.

Things IGOVers Can Do During Ramadan

The month of Ramadan has come to Muslims around the world. As a glorious month, of course we will carry out many activities in an effort to increase our good deeds as a form of our obedience to Allah SWT. During Ramadan there are many activities that can be done to fill our time from morning to evening before breaking the fast. Fasting cannot be an excuse for us to be lazy because by allowing the body to do nothing it makes us even more unproductive. What can we do during Ramadan on our beloved campus:

Taking Takjil at Maskam

As a UMY student, there are many facilities provided by the campus for free to students. One of them is the distribution of 5,000 free Takjil for all UMY students during the month of Ramadan. Taking Takjil is done on two scales, namely Drive Thru and Dine In. The 5,000 portions will be plotted to be 3,500 for the drive thru and 1,500 for the UMY campus mosque, so the pedestrian path has been removed and replaced with dine-in at the UMY campus mosque only.

Ngabuburit Time in the Laboratorium IP

The UMY IP Laboratory can really be your destination for spending time with friends. There are many interesting books about government science that can help increase your knowledge about friends’ knowledge. Apart from that, IP LAB can be a good place to hang out while having discussions.

Medical Check-Up Activities for Student Exchange Students at Universiti Sains Malaysia

MALAYSIA (21/03). To open the new semester, universities in Malaysia usually hold ceremonial events and orientation for the 2022/2023 program. This event is a public event that is generally held by campuses in Malaysia to welcome the new semester. This event was held to get to know the campus, campus environment, and all activities on the USM campus. This activity is also equipped with seminars and event briefings.

Three IGOV students have been sent to Universiti Sains Malaysia for the Students Exchange program in the 2022/2023 academic year. Their departure was made on Saturday, March 18, 2023. The students who departed included Kevin Arya Pranaja, Amanda Aspasia Dilla, and Muhammad Akbar Sabarna. Kevin arrived first at 9 am local time. Meanwhile, Amanda and Akbar left Kualanamu for Penang at 13.50.

On Monday, March 20, 2023 they did a Medical Check Up which was carried out by the USM campus. This activity was carried out from 09.00 until finished. This activity was facilitated by USM as an agenda for international students, in this case, Full-time students and exchange students who have arrived in Malaysia. In the morning, they gathered at the International Mobility Office. Then they are invited to do a Covid-19 test, an X-ray, and a urine test. Due to the large number of international students at USM, the queues were long, so this activity lasted a long time. (NIA)

IGOV Student Attend Meet and Greet International Students at Universiti Malaysia Pahang

MALAYSIA (10/03). University of Pahang Malaysia (UMP) provides broad opportunities for students from outside Malaysia to conduct student exchange. Especially for the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, not forgetting to send one of its students, Adil Ario, to enliven the new semester, Universiti Malaysia Pahang held a Meet and Greet event in order to introduce the campus. This event is specifically for students participating in mobility and student exchange program activities. This event was attended by the Director of International Relations and gave a speech at this activity. After that, a Question and Answer was held.

This activity takes place on Monday, March 10, 2023 at 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. This event was accompanied by 7 lecturers who are in charge of international mobility. The series of Meet and Greet events included a UMP week campus tour. There are 28 international students from Indonesia, India, Germany, Australia. International students were given an explanation about the introduction of Malaysian culture and the uniqueness that only exists in Malaysia. Yogyakarta (15/11) – For the umpteenth time, the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY) again selects its students for student exchange activities abroad. This activity, which is a routine agenda for each semester, is one of the mandatory graduation requirements for IGOV UMY students. In addition to being a mandatory requirement, this activity certainly helps students in developing their values ​​so that they become graduates who are able to be competitive both nationally and globally.

On Wednesday, November 14, 2022, IGOV UMY has just held an interview for 3 IGOV UMY students who will conduct a Student Exchange at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia. This activity was held in the Jusuf Kalla School of Government UMY (JKSG UMY) Room and the selector in this interview session was Adibah Dhivani Gusmi, S.IP., one of the IGOV UMY staff who is in charge of International Mobility and Cooperation. The purpose of this selection activity is to determine the English language skills of prospective students who will do Student Exchange, the benefits they get for their individual after participating in the activity, and to find out how serious they are in participating in the activity.

“This interview activity is of course not only to prevent falsification of TOEFL/IELTS scores by knowing firsthand their English language skills, but to find out their seriousness in participating in student exchange activities.
