Yogyakarta (22/11) – Welcoming Party and Matriculation are annual routine events held by the International Government Students Community (IGSC) to welcome the new students of the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY). This event aims to introduce the IGOV UMY campus environment to new students more deeply. In addition, this event also brought closer relations between new students and old students. Through this event, it is hoped that new students can adapt more easily at IGOV UMY.

In connection with the Welcoming Party activities for IGOV students batch 2022 tomorrow, the IGSC management and IGOV UMY managers held a meeting regarding the distribution of Person In Charge (PIC) for assigned tasks so that the welcoming party and matriculation activities proceeded properly. The meeting was held on Tuesday, 22 November 2022 which took place in Tutorial Room 1, Postgraduate Building, Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, and was attended by Adibah Dhivani Gusmi, S.IP., as the PIC of the activity and the IGSC team.

Even though the welcoming party this time was different from the previous year because it was combined with the matriculation activity, the organizers were optimistic that this activity would be much more exciting and certainly beneficial for them. “Although this time the welcoming party activity is combined with the matriculation activity, we still guarantee that the event will excitingly take place by providing games and a warm welcome for them. Apart from that, with this activity we hope that there will be no gaps from each generation and make each IGOV UMY closer,” said Dilan chairman of the Welcoming Party activity committee. (ARP)

Yogyakarta (21/11) – On 21 – 26 November 2022 the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences held Mid Semester Break activities based on SE of the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Number: 11 lo/A. I-II/VII/2022, and results of coordination meetings between Faculty Leaders and Study Programs as well as results from the RKT of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Mid Semester Break is a 1 week’s break from lectures after the 8th (eighth) meeting ends.

Mid-Semester Break is the most eagerly awaited activity. A semester break is a right time to take a break and unwind after a busy college routine. Usually, students return home during the semester break. Some go on picnics and travel for refreshing. But some just stay at the boarding house or rent it out, then sleep a lot and keep playing games. Many activities can be done to make the holidays more memorable besides going home or sleeping in the boarding house and playing games.

Foreign Students Study at IGOV UMY to Support Internationalization Activities

Yogyakarta (19/11) – Muda Mendunia is a jargon that is currently embedded in the citizens regarding Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). Of course, this jargon is not just mere boasting to attract public attention to UMY. One form of UMY to prove this jargon is the presence of an International Study Program or what is commonly called an International Program, with an International Program students are able to get more facilities and internationalization which can increase students’ preparedness for a globalized world.

One of the International Programs at UMY is the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration UMY (IGOV UMY) which provides great support for its students to get internationalization. This support is in the form of programs created by IGOV UMY such as the Student Exchange Program, Visiting Professor, and International Government of Politics Summer School (IGoPSS) where IGOV UMY will hold a Summer School for students from all over the world. Apart from that, IGOV UMY also holds an Inbound Student Exchange Program where foreign students will study at IGOV UMY for one semester.

Currently, IGOV UMY has 4 foreign students studying at IGOV UMY, 2 foreign students with Full-Time Student status, and 2 foreign students participating in Student Exchange Program activities from Thailand. Having these 4 foreign students is certainly a plus for IGOV UMY students because they can more easily exchange ideas, gain insights and new perspectives from each country, as well as add to international relations. This was also confirmed by Awang Rajaprakoso Purnomo, one of the UMY IGOV students. “In my opinion, having friends from abroad really helps me improve my English and opens up new perspectives and knowledge from them.”

Furthermore, IGOV UMY will hold a Welcoming Party activity which is to welcome new IGOV UMY students along with Exchange Students and Cultural Exchange activities which go directly to cultural-based tourist attractions so that these foreign students can learn about Indonesian culture which is of course very different from their home country. they. Yogyakarta (18/11) – Since the reopening of new student registration on October 10, 2022, the Admisi Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (Admisi UMY) invited study programs at UMY to create new and innovative strategies to attract a wider range of students. As of Friday, November 18, 2022, Admisi UMY invited international programs to discuss gathering preparations with the leading schools in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java. IGOV UMY Welcoming of 2 Exchange Students from Maejo University, Thailand

Yogyakarta (17/11) – The Student Exchange Program as a result of the collaboration between the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY) and Maejo University, Thailand is conducting stages of sending its students to each university after being confronted by the co-19 pandemic which caused the student exchange program to not be carried out. At this time, IGOV UMY is accepting 2 students from Maejo University, Thailand who will study at IGOV UMY for 1 semester. The two students were named Amnat Arthan and Chakorn Auppala.

Of course, the arrival of the 2 exchange students is expected to be able to add to the relations of IGOV UMY students and they can share experiences, learn about each culture, and provide insight and new perspectives from the exchange students. As stated by Awang, one of the IGOV UMY batch 2020 students, “With the arrival of these 2 students, we hope that we can broaden our insights and perspectives about the world. This activity was held in the Jusuf Kalla School of Government UMY (JKSG UMY) Room and the selector in this interview session was Adibah Dhivani Gusmi, S.IP., one of the IGOV UMY staff who is in charge of International Mobility and Cooperation. Yogyakarta (14/11) – To help students complete their undergraduate education on time which is also an important aspect in assessing study program accreditation, the International Program of Government Affairs and Administration at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (IGOV UMY) has just held an IGOV activity Final Year Students Meeting for Bachelor Thesis. This activity was held on Monday, 14 November 2022 which took place in Classroom 405, Postgraduate Building, UMY, and was attended by IGOV UMY Team and IGOV UMY students. As an international class, this activity needs to be carried out because the international class has procedures for submitting and working on theses that are different from regular classes.

There were several discussions in this activity such as giving directions from the director of IGOV UMY, conveying the obstacles faced by IGOV UMY students, and collecting data regarding whether students had fulfilled the administration requirements for graduation. In addition, IGOV UMY provides facilities in the form of mentors for IGOV UMY students who have difficulties in the process of working on their thesis, such as processing data, using tools that are currently a requirement in the thesis, and assisting in scientific writing.

In this activity, Mas Sakir as the director of IGOV UMY gave directions for IGOV UMY students to be able to graduate quickly while still following existing quality standards “We hope IGOV UMY students can complete their thesis quickly but still pay attention to existing quality standards”.
